I think retirement can be a time to have adventures. However, I find those people who go on solo Atlantic rowing trips will never inspire me to do the same. Us less adventurous people can still have adventures though. What is the definition of an adventure? An exciting or dangerous experience. I have always said that as a single person the highs are higher, but the lows are lower too. As a single person there is often the feeling that you are missing out, society can appear to be very couples orientated. You can go on Facebook and feel freakish for not having a GF or BF, husband or wife. Adventures are made for single people. Book a night in a good hotel in a town you have always wanted to visit. During the day you can see the sights. Take a book to the bar for a pre dinner cocktail or glass of wine. Waiters will always look after you and chat to you over dinner. Enjoy the freedom. Tick this off your adventure list. However a friend has just suggested that a stay at a Youth Hostel would suit most budgets and would be much more fun! Check out the YHA website how times have changed I wonder if they still stamp your card!
